I really like the redesign of THOR'S outfit. The return of THOR later this year is illustrated by Olivier Copiel-- who, in my opinion, is the HANDS-DOWN best comic book artist working today-- and it's very cool. I made a ham-fisted attempt at a sketch of THOR in his new duds and thought I'd post it here.
Very cool drawing. I, too, approve of his new look. It keeps the classic elements while modernizing them. Anything to get those damned circles to be smaller. This works. I really like how you treated the helmet. Good one!!
While I love Coipel (especially his work on the Legion) I really hated this design until I saw you draw it here. The bottom of the jacket/tunic seems to hang a little lower. In the image that's floating around online, Coipel makes the thighs a little too beefcake for my liking, and the hammer a little too obviously phalic. I was pretty meh about the whole deal. I love this though, and seeing your version of the new look, I took another glance at Coipel's, and suddenly I love it. Good work.

Is it Coipels approach, his draftsmanship, stylizations, idiosyncrasies, compositional tendencies...
